Active Recovery Helps!
Not just repair. Active recovery may also help increase capacity. This study took a look at how active recovery resulted in a higher power output but also in greater endurance adaptation. You know we are all about adaptation to training demands in WGA. As you read this study, consider that we believe that active recovery is also beneficial emotionally since it takes the pressure off of the athlete to perform at a high level continually. Remember, active recovery is void of even moderate intensity – it’s more about energy in, not energy out.
